Voting is currently underway on the proposed Business Improvement District for Baker Street Quarter.

The BID Proposal Centres On Three Objectives:

Create A High-Quality Public Realm – We will develop a high-quality public realm and environment that produces a safe, convenient and attractive destination for employees, residents and visitors.

Represent, Position and Promote – We will represent and promote the area and its businesses through a range of marketing collateral and the development of a powerful collective voice for Baker Street Quarter businesses.

Establish A Premier Business Hub – We will position the proposed BID area as a premier business hub, with a range of services to support and interconnect existing businesses and attract new ones.

This document considers the current streetscape, its functionality and how it could be improved in relation to the pedestrian environment, traffic systems, vehicle movement and greening.

Spring Walks 2012

Baker Street Quarter’s first series of free guided walks of the area start on Thursday 29 September. This series of autumnal walks are led by a professional guide and take place at selected lunchtimes and late afternoons throughout October and November.

The walks explore a range of themes:

There’s a Place – explores locations connected to the Beatles, like the Apple Boutique,

We Lived Here – takes in the former homes of famous residents who lived in the Marylebone,

Baker Street Irregulars – Visits sites connected with the WWII Special Operations Executive (SOE) established by Prime Minister Winston Churchill,

Behind the Sign – Explores the origins of local street names.

Blitz on Baker Street - locations bombed during the Blitz in World War II.

We Lived Here (Part II) - visiting more houses formerly occupied by famous people.

Baker Street Quarter launched

Baker Street Quarter was launched on Tuesday 27 September 2011 at a reception held at Home House, Portman Square. During the next two years the partnership will be working towards becoming a Business Improvement District in the Spring of 2013, by delivering three strategic objectives:

1. Promote and Represent the area,

2. Delivering a high quality public realm,

3. Developing Baker Street as a premier business hub.

Guests included local landowners and businesses, as well as the area’s MP Mark Field, elected ward Councillors and several residents representatives.
